AIRPORTS
The growth of air travel
and ever present threat of terrorism has meant
that the security of both passengers and staff
has becomes an ever greater burden upon both
operators and enforcement agencies with each
passing year.
Recent developments the UK have again brought
aviation security to the top of the public agenda,
but this has been recognized as a particular
issue long before this and before the tragic
events of September 11th 2001.
Optilan provide a range of stand-alone and integrated
technologies that can assist with maximizing
the efficient use of airport security personnel.
CCTV/ANPR
The 2002 Wheeler Report made very specific recommendations
regarding CCTV/ANPR at UK airports. Identifying
and monitoring vehicles of interest to the Police
and other agencies as they use the airport approach
roads, long before their drivers attempt to
board a plane, is vital both to crime prevention
and to national security.
The integration of systems security across the
different transport sectors is highlighted by
Sir John Wheeler. Optilan have provided ANPR
and CCTV systems to a
number of Regional Police forces for use in
their drive to ‘Deny the Criminal the
Use of the Roads’, as well as to The British
Transport Police, who are using ANPR technology
to monitor approach roads and forecourts at
key mainline Railway Stations throughout the
UK.
Perimeter Intruder Detection
Optilan is Distribution
Partner to Future Fibre Technologies, developers
of Optical Fibre based PID
systems, now operating at commercial and
military airfields and other large-scale secure
sites worldwide.
Specifically designed for environments such
as airports and oil refineries, FFT systems
deliver optimum cost efficiency for sites with
long perimeter fences and where there may be
issues with providing power in the field. Based
on optical fibre technology, with intelligent
mapping systems and power from the head end
the FFT system can be integrated by Optilan
into broader security and communications solutions
(see below).
Optilan has installed integrated PID systems,
including FFT technology worldwide at some highly
sensitive sites.
Integrated Security
Optilan’s ‘total
solutions’ approach to integrated security,
from high level design to installation, commissioning
and support, provides all the advantages of
using a single fully accountable source of expertise
and labour, operating responsibly to rigorous
quality, health & safety and technical
standards.
