Optilan Field Teams have been installing, jointing, terminating and testing optical fibre and copper cable over Network Rail, LUL and Light Rail infrastructures for over a decade.

Cable Installation Services

• Direct laid Super Armoured Cable (SAC) and Double Insulated Super Armoured Cable (DISAC)
• Cable into trackside concrete troughing, including de-lid and re-lid.
• LUL – enabling works and cable installation/recovery - both Section 12 and Non Section 12 areas
• Duct and subduct cabling
• Associated minor civil works including:
  • Troughing
  • Splice bays
  • Route clearance (ballast and vegetation)
  • Route upgrade

Joint, Terminate and Test (JTT) Services

• Fibre and Copper Jointing - full compliance to specifications including Network Rail Specification FTN D&D 005
• Fibre Splicing – all enclosure types, including FIST GC02 (Network Rail) and Stainless Steel (London Underground) enclosures
• Termination to a comprehensive range of cabinets and equipment rooms
• OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) and ILM (Insertion Loss Monitoring) testing at 1310, 1550 and 1625 nm.
• PMD (Polarisation Mode Dispersion) and CD (Chromatic Dispersion) testing
