Training

Optilan's in-house Training School provides training facilities both to the company's own engineers and to external customers. Several Optilan Trainers are also qualified IRSE Assessors.

As employers of the UK's largest Fibre Engineering Force, Optilan recognises its role and responsibilities as a Centre of Excellence in the field of Fibre and copper Jointing, Termination and Test, or 'JTT' as it is generally known.

The Optilan Jointing Terminate and Testing Training School grew out of a need to:

• Grow the UK Fibre Engineering Skills Base through training promising young people in this area.
• Continuously update and enhance the skills and expertise of the Optilan Field Force.
• Provide training and skills to customer and third party Engineers and Technicians internationally, so that they can contribute to on-site maintenance and support of Optilan-built communicaiton systems.
• Help ensure that the products promoted by Optilan can be correctly installed and supported by properly trained purchaser/user personnel.
• Share our knowledge with anyone in the industry who wishes to benefit.
  

The Optilan JTT Training School currently offers the following external 'set' training courses:

• Copper Jointing, Sheath Closures & Test (For Network Rail Fixed Telecom Network (FTN) Specification Compliance) - 3 or 5 day courses
• Construction, Preparation, Splicing and Test of GCO2 Closure - (For Network Rail Fixed Telecom Network (FTN) Specification Compliance) - 3 Day Course
  

All course have a strong 'hands-on' emphasis, using a combination of lectures, demonstrations and practicals, and culminating a Skills Assessment Day confirming each delegate's ability to apply, accurately and confidently, the lessons learnt to the actual task at hand.

Further courses are under development, and courses can of course be custom-built to customer specification.
