Telecoms - Rail
In 1990 Optilan undertook
our first fibre splicing and test works in a
rail environment on the Docklands Light Railway.
By 1993 we had undertaken our first works on
Network Rail, the commissioning of the London
Tilbury Southend (LTS) Resignalling Project
followed in 1994 by the Barnes Area Resignalling
Project.
Over the last decade our
Light
Rail, Mainline
Rail and London
Underground pedigree for cabling works has
enjoyed exponential growth and no more so than
over the last five years during which time we
have formed a Rail Sales and Delivery Division
to provide all aspects of cabling and transmission
systems for the Rail Industry.
The Rail environment is
a demanding one, it has strict health and safety
protocols for both individuals and the employing
company alike, the H&S focus is coupled
with some equally demanding quality and technical
standards that ensure long equipment and systems
life cycles in a harsh environment from Vibration,
EMC and the weather.
Our Rail division was established to embrace these challenges.
Optilan’s expertise
extends through complete telecoms
systems transmission designs and
supply though station
systems including CCTV, PA, Help
points, Phones, Ethernet Networks and ANPR
for station car parks and approach roads and
trackside
systems such as fibre optic and
copper cabling backbone JTT commissioning and
the telecoms aspects of Concentrator projects.
