Optilan has operated almost since its foundation as a contractor to the National Grid for the provision of fibre commissioning services, including critical response against SLAs and planned and routine maintenance, throughout England and Wales. The company provides similar services to a number of Distribution Network Operators.

Overhead Line and Electricity Substation environments are particularly demanding in terms of both Health & Safety and procedural requirements. Our commitment to this sector for well over a decade has resulted in an 80%+ UK market share and substantial overseas demand for installation, testing and troubleshooting services.

Optilan has the ability to design, configure, test, install and document our Utilities customers' active transmission equipment, including substation ethernet networks and SDH teleprotection services. Our staging facility can deliver simultaneous builds of in excess of 200 equipment racks at any one time.

We also undertake OHL Refurbishment/Replacement projects for our Power Utilities clients, providing full turnkey solutions from Asset and Fibre Network Assessment to Installation, Project Management and Documentation Services.

Optilan also provides a single source of communications expertise to the rapidly expanding UK and European Renewables Sector, providing systems and infrastructure for wind farm and wave farm control, communications and security applications
