Who We Are

Optilan was founded in 1990 by Tim Allen, Richard Buckland and Eamonn McFadden. Over the years, this Board of Directors has been expanded, to ensure the company has the depth of management to drive the business continually forward within the highly competitive markets we serve.

Optilan remains privately owned, and operates primarily from our UK Headquarters in the West Midlands, where over 160 people are currently employed. Optilan has regional offices in Russia (Moscow) and Azerbaijan (Baku), and the company’s US subsidiary, Optilan Inc, operates out of Houston, USA.

The company’s expanding position in the local economy led to Optilan receiving in 2004 the Regional Business of the Year Award.
