HSEQ Engineer

The Role

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the existing management systems we use are maintained and for the continual auditing of these systems and existing procedures providing guidance to Optilan employees as required.

Assisting the HSEQ & Facilities Manager, you’ll ensure that Optilan facilities are legally compliant, inspected in line with a set programme and maintained. As well as providing support to the wider HSEQ team you’ll be required to visit sites around the UK to complete auditing of works against procedures and management plans.

You’ll review and approve method statements and WPP as well as preparing audit reports which propose corrective and preventative actions. You’ll be responsible for ensuring these actions are completed in the timescales documented. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring internal and external documentation is compliant with all contract specifications and ISO requirements.

You will be responsible for ensuring that all work is carried out is in accordance with Optilan policies in respect of Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities and other policies.

About You

Ideally you will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of HSEQ Management, and you will hold a formal audit qualification. It would be desirable that you are NEBOSH & IEMA certified and have firsthand experience of fronting RISQS audits. Clear experience of leading risk assessments and incident investigations would be advantageous in this role. You must have a strong understanding and experience of working with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001. Using your excellent communication skills, you’ll be confident in dealing with colleagues and clients at all levels, mentoring and coaching when appropriate, taking charge and giving specific instructions and direction when required. You’ll be able to review a situation from all perspectives and make decisions that work for all involved parties.

  • Experience within a relevant industry (preferably Rail)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience HSEQ Management in a project support role.
