Market Research Analyst

The Role

Reporting directly to the Sales and Marketing Director, the Market Research Analyst will be responsible for researching and gathering data on key markets, competitors, and customer requirements. The output of which will inform our sales strategy, to identify changes and opportunities, create and update market segmentation, and forecast market trends globally.

You will champion an insights-driven culture to help the business develop an in-depth understanding of our market landscape across the sectors in which we operate in. In this role you will support the sales team internationally in the delivery of objective, insightful and actionable research and insight to create superior market understanding.

A key aspect of this role is to obtain detailed research material to identify upcoming projects, market opportunities and trends in Optilan’s target markets. This research material then needs to be filtered accurately and in sufficient detail to enable Optilan to approach the right opportunities in a controlled manner.

You will be required to communicate effectively internally to understand the business needs and to share research output in a timely and structured manner with the Business leadership, development and delivery teams. In addition to this, you will be responsible for initiating CRM activities to increase customers’ consumption and build brand loyalty through developing and implementing approved CRM strategies.

Key responsibilities

  • Collecting, assimilating and interpreting data on key markets, competitors, and industries
  • Leading special research projects/ initiatives as dictated by the business requirements
  • Conducting research to determine market size, market opportunities, identifying market trends and future forecasts
  • Building detailed market reports and analysis and continually contributing to the knowledge base of the business
  • Presenting insights and research recommendations to the sales team and senior leadership in a straightforward, engaging and concise manner.

About You

To be considered for this role, a bachelor’s degree in a Business-related discipline, such as Business, Sales, Marketing or Economics is essential, as well as 2-3 years’ experience in a researching role.

The Market Research Analyst should have the ability to think strategically, present data effectively and display both strong analytical and critical thinking skills. You will be both methodical and analytical in your approach to problem solving and able to demonstrate proficiency in conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses. A high level of accuracy is paramount so an eye for detail and strong organisational skills are deemed essential. As are excellent communication skills to enable you to present, influence and negotiate at all levels to help shape the future direction of the business.
