Senior Project Portfolio Manager

The Role

Optilan are recruiting for a Senior Project Portfolio Manager to join our team in the West Midlands to provide leadership, management and coordination of agreed Optilan projects.

Reporting to the Project Delivery Director, you will be responsible for managing key client relationships, delivering the expected outcomes on time and within budget. Ensuring that the projects under your direct control, and those run by your team are accurately reported on a monthly basis. You will play a key role in developing a culture of innovation and continuous improvement and collaborating with the wider team to deliver the business objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding, managing, and delivering projects under your control within contract requirements
  • Ensuring all project documentation is completed and responsibilities with the team are assigned and managed
  • Act as project owner and being the contact person for the client, authorities, and your team
  • Presenting project progress, highlighting any issues in a timely manner and proposed solutions
  • On boarding new staff, ensuring they fully understand company processes, procedures and systems
  • Leading, developing, and managing a team to anticipate future work or client requirements
  • Managing and forecasting man power requirements both in terms of delivery capability and quantity of man hours required
  • Agreeing the order value and anticipated margin expectations with the sales team at the handover stage
  • Managing relationships with clients and building a collaborative working environment for staff
  • Ensuring that project teams are adhering to all company procedures, legal requirements, and are promoting the implementation of safe systems of work
  • Maximising productivity through measuring project performance including quality of delivery, HSQE, and client feedback

About You

  • 5+ years of managing projects and team leadership experience delivering large scale projects globally
  • Additionally, you have proven expertise in a relevant industry
  • Ability to continuously look for opportunities for improvement and to develop strategies for change to influence and shape the future direction of the business
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, delivering results through motivating others
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident and successful negotiator managing client expectations
  • Ability to influence others through persuasive arguments based on data and factual evidence
  • Effective and collaborative change management in line with strategic objectives
  • Excellent financial awareness and experience of managing budgets
  • Strong organisational skills, able to demonstrate the ability to meet targets and consistently deliver project on time
