Shipping and Logistics Manager

The Role

We are looking for a Shipping and Logistics Manager to join our team to design, implement and maintain a class-leading shipping and logistics strategy. This role encompasses the storage and movement of materials, 3rd party equipment hire and vehicle fleet arrangement, catering to both local and international projects.

Your role will be to ensure that material requirements for projects are managed, controlled, and dispatched in accordance with contractual requirements, including statutory obligations. As part of this you will also be responsible for the management of the internal warehousing and any external storage requirements. Leading a team of direct reports, you will deliver and improve the way we optimise our shipping and logistics offering, inclusive of the deployment of our fleet.

You will be responsible for the management of all global trade import and export activity and associated compliance requirements. This will involve the implementation of best practice shipping & logistics principles, policies and processes to gain operational and financial efficiencies. You will be recognised as a Subject Matter Expert in this area.

About You

To be considered for this role you will need a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Shipping, Logistics & Warehouse Management, as well as proven experience managing a fleet of 50+ vehicles. You will be able to demonstrate extensive import/export control experience and have both sound technical and commercial awareness of the Integrated Telecoms & Security Sector.

Strong leadership and communication skills are an integral part of this job. This will enable the presentation and negotiation at all levels to help shape the future direction of the business.

The role necessitates meticulous attention detail and the ability to act decisively even with limited information. You will have a proven track record of implementing change management techniques, with the ability to recognise opportunities for improvement. The ideal candidate for this post will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to work under pressure to meet challenging deadlines, as part of a team or autonomously as required.

A relevant degree is essential as are good IT Skills including ERP experience and inventory management. A current Forklift Truck Licence would be desirable along with a detailed technical knowledge of multiple communication systems.
