Telecommunications provides the main components that integrates many different engineering systems and as such is critical to performance. We assess and compile feasabilitiy studies to ensure our customers are receiving the most appropriate service in accordance to their needs. We are therefore always keen to be involved at the initial design stage of a project to make sure integration issues are addressed early on. By taking this holistic approach we can help create the basis for a True Lifecycle Programme, addressing every project stage.

Our engineers will also undertake the detailed work of writing a telecoms philosophy on behalf of customers, producing block diagrams or drawing individual package specifications. Our services include:

System Integration

Optilan are skilled in systems integration and complete testing. In our workshops we can build over 200 racks at any one time and assemble equipment cabinets and field equipment as per customer specifications.

Our systems are all subject to full Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and pre-commissioning prior to shipping. Project-specific test specifications are developed for every subsystem and passed to the client for prior approval. FAT is undertaken by project engineering teams in our main workshop, which is fully equipped with voice, data, RF and fibre optic test equipment. Larger projects with very high levels of in-house activity can have their own dedicated secure FAT rooms.

Installation and Commissioning

Optilan undertake building and testing of equipment prior to shipment through our logistics system to ensure site installation work is kept to a minimum. Our skilled and experienced engineers can install our systems or we can assist and supervise your team in conducting the installation - an approach preferred by some of our customers. Our services include:

  • Full Logistics or Logistics Support.
  • On-site Engineering and Installation.
  • On-site Testing and Commissioning.
Maintenance and Support

We look after the future as well as the present, providing a full emergency maintenance and repair service alongside comprehensive and individually tailored preventative maintenance schedules. We can support you with:

  • Site-based Optilan engineers.
  • UK based customer service facilities that include, 24x7 – 365 days a year dedicated telephone helpline support and remote diagnostic facilities.
  • Emergency stand-by specialist engineering teams available on a next-flight basis.

The maintenance packages themselves can incorporate all aspects of the whole system, from individual subsystem components to transmission systems and network cabling. This includes legacy and non-Optilan supplied systems and equipment if required. Our capabilities encompass:

  • Proactive Maintenance – we undertake system health checks to identify preventative or corrective maintenance required and advise on upgrades.
  • Equipment and Network Support – our 24x7 remote and on-site customer support service is readily available in the unlikely situation that something goes wrong, we can help rectify the situation.
  • Spare Parts and Repair Management - a wide inventory and same-day or next-day delivery service means spare parts arrive where and when needed.
  • Field Maintenance – as well as our regular field inspection service you can call out our engineers and technicians when you need them most so that your network can maintain peak performance.
  • Software Upgrade Support – we can execute or support any software upgrades required to your system.
